Material Safety Data Sheets
The provision of a Material safety data sheet with the supply of certain chemicals and substances is a requirement of the United Kingdom (UK) government regulations ‘Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2002’ and amendments (now at edition 3 and cited as ‘CHIP 3’). The provision of safety information is also a requirement of section 6 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
In accordance with these regulations, a safety data sheet must be provided with a product containing a dangerous chemical, and it is the suppliers responsibility to ensure that the user has enough information to decide how to protect people at work and the environment when handling and using the product supplied.
AbD Serotec material safety data sheets have been written to provide information about similar product groups that are produced and may be handled in the same way, and therefore there may not be a specific reference to the product code on the safety data sheet. They are however, produced in accordance with UK regulations and with reference to chemical hazard information held by the European Chemicals Bureau. We aim to provide the customer with as much information as we have available regarding the hazards of the product to help the customer to assess the probability of the hazards (ie the risk) arising in the workplace.
Material safety data sheets for monoclonal, and polyclonal antibodies and conjugates are now available to our customers on this website. Please contact the Technical department at AbD Serotec to obtain the relevant safety data sheets for all other products.
A review and standardisation of the material safety data sheets for AbD Serotec products is planned during 2008 and it is our aim to make them all available to the customer as soon as possible on the website.
